Tope Alabi is a popular Nigerian gospel musician, she is also known by several nicknames like Oore to O common and Agbo Jesu due to her first songs.
According to the available information, Tope Alabi’s full name is Patricia Temitope Alabi. She was born on 27th October 1970. She is the only daughter of her parents.
Tope Alabi was born into the family of Pa Joseph Akinyele and Madam Agnes Kehinde, they hail from Yewa, Imeko of Ogun State.
Education
Tope Alabi attended Oba Akinyele Memorial High School where she obtained her West Africa School Certificate in 1986 before she proceeded to the Polytechnic Ibadan where she studied Mass Communication and graduated in 1990.
Career
Tope Alabi was an aspiring actress from a young age, while she was in secondary school she joined a theater group where she showed her talent.
Likewise, she also joined another movie group that is known as Jesters International group in 1983 and she was able to act with Papilolo and Aderupoko. Tope Alabi worked with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ibadan between 1990 & 1991.
Tope Alabi worked with Centre-spread Advertising Limited, Lagos from 1991 – 1992.
In 1994, Tope Alabi joined the Alade Aromire Theatre group, in this group she discovered and developed her musical talent.
So she started making several soundtracks for movie productions during her time with the Theatre group.
Tope Alabi dropped her first album in 2000, titled Oore ti O Common (uncommon favor). This album was a hit and the album brought her into the limelight. She was able to get her nicknames Oore ti O Common and Agbo Jesu.
Tope Alabi went on to release two more albums – Ikoko Dudu and Baba Iwo la k’epe.
